🕌 Saffun — Privacy Policy

Saffun ("we", "our", "the app") is a community-driven masjid finder and prayer times application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. This is used to identify your account and manage your role (User, Volunteer, Masjid Manager, or Admin).

Location Data: We access your device's GPS location to show nearby masjids and calculate prayer times. Location data is used in real-time and is not stored on our servers.

Masjid Submissions: If you submit a masjid, the data you provide (name, address, coordinates, prayer timings, photos, facilities) is stored on our servers and made publicly available to all users.

Favorites: Your list of favorited masjids is stored on our servers, linked to your account.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not track your location history
We do not collect browsing or usage analytics
We do not read your contacts, messages, or files
We do not use advertising identifiers
We do not sell, share, or trade your personal data with any third party

3. How We Use Your Data

Authentication: Your Google account info is used solely to log you in and manage permissions
Nearby Masjids: Your GPS location is used only to find masjids near you
Prayer Times: Your location is used to calculate prayer times on your device — no server call needed
Proximity Alerts: If enabled, your device monitors geofences locally to remind you of Nafil prayers near a masjid. This runs entirely on your device.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers in the US East region. Authentication tokens are encrypted on your device using AES-256 encryption. All network communication uses HTTPS.

5. Third-Party Services

Google Sign-In: For authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Google Maps: For map display and navigation. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Amazon Web Services: For backend data storage. Subject to AWS Privacy Policy.

6. Advertising

Saffun does not display advertisements. Ever. We do not use any advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or ad networks. This is a permanent commitment.

7. Children's Privacy

Saffun is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us. Upon request, we will delete your account, favorites, and any submissions linked to your account within 30 days.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Withdraw consent (by signing out and uninstalling the app)

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
